Blessed be....

You are BLESSED when you get inside your world - your mind and heart - put right.

Then you can see God in the outside world.

~Matthew 5:8

This is so true for me....wanted to share that bit of the Beautitudes from the Book of Mark.

I have been SUPER busy this week....therefore have not updated the blog lately. My niece and nephew are here for the week visiting....we have many FUN things planned this week.

Plus...I am in the middle of redecorating! Painting, sewing, repurposing, etc......a whole new room! Got the new couch and we have decided to get a 2nd one just like it. Can't beat Ikea!

All of my friends and family think I am NUTS for getting white furniture when I have a house of 2 kids, a husband, 2 dogs, and several teenage boys that seem to live here every other day, plus preteen girls, etc. etc. I know....I know....it does sound a bit crazy.....

but they will be trained!

Reid's buddies already played a joke on me and told me that one of them spilled Pepsi on the couch, and asked me what they should do? I said ...."RUN!!". They got a kick out of my reaction! LOL! They were joking of coarse....it was not funny for about a second!

I will update tonight, if possible.

Childhood Icons....Gone.

Wow.....did this album have an influence on me!

Beat It, Billie Jean, P.Y.T. , Wanna Be Startin Something, and THRILLER!!

Remember the Thriller video on MTV? My friends and I would watch MTV all day just to watch that one video! I knew almost the entire dance! That was well before the days of VHS and better yet DVR's!

My kids viewed Michael Jackson as a "freak". Their generation did not see the Micheal Jackson that my generation watched. He was idolized by my generation. He was truely an entertainer and so talented! It is sad that all of the scandal change his status. Was it true?? Who knows?? He did seem like a pretty giving, caring person. Yes...he became strange, weird, "freakish".....but I will always remember him like this.....

Wow....could he dance and MOONWALK!

Onto another childhood Icon....FARRAH!!

WOW....every man (and woman) adored this poster of her!

I idolized her! I had a Farrah Fawcett barbie doll that I played with constantly and my parents love to tell the story of how much I loved my "Sarah Sawcett" doll (so...I called her). And....didn't we all love watching Charlie's Angels....until she left the show anyways. She has gone through so many personal struggles and of coarse her brave battle with cancer. She was a TEXAS girl and made us proud.......

You're Blessed......

I found this on one of my favorite blogs today and wanted to share it....

I love this......so true. Words to live by.

My new motto.

Fathers Day.....a few days after and MY ZOO!

I know...I know.....Father's Day was like 4 days ago!
But, better late than never. I had a busy weekend and week! Well....this is where I spent Friday, Saturday.......and Father's Day!

Maddie had a tournament...why on Father's Day weekend?? Because the Daddy's wanted to! LOL! The tournament was Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Brant worked a double at the Fire Station on Fri. and Sat. so I was on my own. The tournament was in Weatherford which is about 45 minutes from us. It is such a charming town.....lots of antique and vintage stores and boutiques. I was really hoping that in between games and I could get away and do some shopping. Well, my Maddie was not in the mood to shop, so no luck with that! I did start reading a new book though, "My Sister's Keeper". I was able to read it in between games, in a gym full of chaos! people kept asking me how I read with all that noise and commotion....it is my little escape I guess. Anyways...so far I LOVE the book! The movie comes out at the end of this month, so hopefully I can get it finished soon.

Sunday morning, Brant got home from the station and we welcomed him with a few gifts....

The kids have made stepping stones over the years for their Daddy with their hand prints/footprints and it has been a while, so I thought it would be fun to make one this year. It was quite a sight painting Reid's size 12 feet and doing his footprints! We had fun doing it.....they are still my babies! We had them sitting on the front porch and stuck a card in the wreath. I texted Brant and told him to make sure he went in the house through the front door rather than the side garage. We also got him some nice leather flips flops and some tools!

We had to leave early after Brant got home to get to Maddie's first game of the day. So, Maddie, Brant and I hit the road. I was able to see my dad for a bit and give him his gift before we left town. Reid was exhausted, so we let him sleep in and stay home. We went to Maddie's game....they lost. They took 3rd place overall....YAY for them! We dropped by Brant's Mom and stepdads on the way back to visit with them for a bit. After we left, Brant then decided he wanted to go to downtown Fort Worth on the way home and eat dinner and see a movie. So...we hit Sundance Square! One of my favorite places in Fort Worth!

Brant and Maddie

As we were walking and I was taking pics (as always) a very nice guy (group of Harley riders) stopped and asked if I wanted him to take our pic.....Of Coarse!

The Courthouse

Courtyard and Dining patio

Brant wanted to eat Seafood...so we decided on Daddy Jack's.

Me and my "Baby's daddy"

(Maddie took our pic)

After lunch...we went to Starbucks, walked around a bit, and headed to Barnes and Noble. I bought another gift for my daddy. He had mentioned a few days before about a book he wanted to get. He did not know the name of the book, but he had told me the story and what it was about. It is sports related of coarse! I told him it sounded like a story that they needed to make into a movie. Well....I did some research and found the book! When I was checking out the lady told me they are making a movie about it and it will be filmed in and around Fort Worth! The book is called "Twelve Might Orphans" .

I was so happy I found it and surprised my dad with it later that evening!

After book shopping, we headed to the movie theater in Sundance and saw "UP". Brant wanted to see it. I am so glad we did! It is one of the BEST movies I have seen in a while!! LOVED IT!!

When we left the movies...it was dark! We walked to the car and saw this.......

there she was.....the Angel at Bass Hall!
I ADORE that building. It is so pretty, especially lit up at night!
We had a great day.......I was sad that Reid was not with us. He spent the evening with his Dad though and they played the PS3! Another thing Daddy enjoys!

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to the BEST DADDY a Mommy could ever dream for her children!!
Brant has always been the most hands on Daddy! He has changed an equal amount of diapers over the years and got up for night feedings (even with me being a Stay-at-Home mom), bathed them, tucked them in, read them stories, helped them with homework, taught them how to swing, swim, ride their trikes and bikes, play soccer, baseball, softball, hockey, basketball, snow ski, and fish, fly a kite, attempted to do ponytails and even add the bows when I was not there to do it, played dress up and had tea parties, carpooled when I couldn't, was the "Room Dad" at the kid's school when I needed him to be, was gracious when I volunteered him to help with the kid's activities and school functions, taught them to cook, make homemade smoothies, eat crawfish (yuck), draw trees, download music, making them technologically knowledgable (LOL), taught them to love animals, love God, treat people with compassion and respect, take pride in everyting they do and I know there are a million other things.........he is the most patient father that I know! On top of that working so hard to provide for us and taking us on awesome family vacations and giving us a beautiful home to live in...and allowing me to be a stay at home Mommy for years.I am so blessed to have such a great man helping me raise our kids....we are a great team!! LOVE you honey!

On another note......it is OFFICIAL. Bella is ours!!
Reid found Bella last week and begged to bring her home. We agreed, but explained that he needed to attempt to find her true owner. He took pictures and made flyers and hung them around town. Well, the next day....daddy got a call (frown). We were sad and Maddie sobbed. We all had a TON of questions for daddy about this so called lady that claimed to be her owner! LOL! She claimed she had been missing a month, and that she wandered off. They do not keep her fenced (a bit common in the country). She claimed they had only had her for 6 months and had taken her off the hands of an elderly lady. Then , she explained her little girl had been missing her. Awwww....we were ready to return her. Although, us being dog lovers were worried about her running around and getting lost again. We had decided we were going to get a tag made for her and a phone #, so that if she was to get lost again she could be returned. We were about to load Bella up and return her, when Brant called us back and said that the lady had talked with her daughter and that they did not want Bella back....we could keep her. Apparently, they have another dog that just had puppies, and her daughter would rather keep a puppy. YAY for us! However, swore we would never have more than 2 dogs....well, now we have 3! Bella is sooooo sweet and we adore her! When we found out we were keeping her, we went straight to the pet store and bought her her own collar and her own food bowl. The kids are happy....and Reid is claiming Bella as "his" dog! Our dogs are very spoiled and are 100% inside dogs.....but we have kept Bella outside so far. At least until we get her to the vet and all checked out. She loves it outside and is a great "guard" dog! She is a great barker! Especially since our 2 others dogs do not realize that they are dogs and can actually bark!

Of coarse this dog is not taking it well...she does not like sharing any attention! Hopefully she will come around soon!

And this one....well she could care less. She is too busy chasing all the toads around the house!

Well.....I hope you are all having a great week!! I am off for the summer after tomorrow and have many projects planned. I am attempting for the first time to make custom fitted slipcovers for a sofa and 2 chairs! Wish me luck! It is a bit overwhelming........

My house is literally a ZOO....I think my mother thinks I am crazy for having a house full of animals and kids!!
I LOVE my ZOO....

Visitors to the Rose Home!

I wanted to share the 2 newest visitors to the Rose Home!

The first is a sweet little bird and her nest. (Excuse the cobwebs in the ceiling...have not powerwashed yet this Spring!). It seems as though she has been nesting for some time now. But everyday she is in and out of the nest sitting on the edge guarding the egss, and there is another bird that sits on the ceiling fan on our patio and stands watch over them. It is so sweet! We can not turn on our ceiling fan on the patio, even though it is 100 degrees in Texas, because it scares them away and they can not get to the nest. She has actually been sitting in the nest over the past few days...so maybe those little peeps will hatch soon!

Our other visitor is a sweet dog that we have named...Bella! Reid mows a cemetary here in town for extra money and he saw her one day and the next day she was still there and followed him. He gave her water but he did not have the heart to leave her there. So, he called me and asked if he could bring her home. The cemetary is in a very rural area where their is lots of open land and homes. She did not have a collar or tags. Of coarse I said YES! We are HUGE animal lovers...and we could not leave her there! So, Reid brought her home and fed her and Maddie bathed her and put a collar on her. She is the sweetest dof and so gentle. However, our 2 spoiled rotten dogs, Katie and Zoe, were not liking a new dog around....at all!!! They are warming up to her though. The kids are upset that I will not let her in the house....yet anyways. I told them we need to bath her a few times and get her to the vet to make sure she is not carrying any diseases or anything. So....she has stayed and slept outside. However, we have a huge covered patio with lots of shade and shelter for her. I am sure that she is appreciative of that! Anything is better than roaming around in an old cemetary! LOL! We did expalin to the kids that the right thing to do is to take pictures and make signs to put around town. Someone may love her as much as we already do and may be looking for her. They did not want to....but Reid made them and went and hung them up around town. She is so sweet and adorable though...and Katie and Zoe are coming around.

Well...a few projects to try and get done today, and have a Suburban full of stuff to take to Goodwill to donate! Then...tonight Maddie's B-Ball team starts yet another tournament. So, we have a game an hour away at 8:00pm tonight. Geesh! They will be playing all day tomorrow and Sunday afternoon. I mean...it's Fathers Day! But...I know Brant wouldn't want to be anywhere else than watching his kids play and do what they enjoy! Hopefully the schedule will allow us to make it to church!

Have a FUN Friday!!

So...we are at it again. Brant is at the station....so I am a single mom tonight. (My heart goes out to REAL single moms.... give them PRAISE). Maddie has Volleyball camp this week from 8:30 to 2:30. Reid has strength & conditioning from 8am-10am. Maddie has B-Ball practice at 6pm, and Reid has a 7 on 7 game at 8:30 in Fort Worth. Whew....not much time!! On top of that we have a new member of our family.....I will share that tomorrow.
I hope your week is going well......I have not been feeling well at all. I am not sure what is wrong. I NEVER feel bad! I just may have to break down and see a doctor. We shall see......

How do I even keep up with the Roses????

It was another busy weekend for us! We started off Friday with going back to our hometown to take Reid to a football camp that Baylor University was hosting. It was for upcoming juniors and seniors, and it is basically a "recruiting" camp. Reid did great and got some attention! He felt really good on how he did also...which is great! Reid is so competitive and is really hard on himself (wonder where he gets that from?), so I am always happy when he is satisfied with himself.

Here is Reid (left) and his teammate Collin taking break....they were pretty "pooped" out! The camp was from 3pm to 6pm...and in Texas that is the hottest part of the day! It was 96 degrees and humid that day...which felt like 100 degrees!

After the camp and since we were in town, we headed to our dear friend's, The Nelsons, for dinner. Gema fixed crab cakes for an appetizer, and lettuce wedges w/ blue cheese dressing drizzled with caramelized honey pecans and sun died tomatoes (YUM!). For dinner we had baked red snapper with a cream sauce, grilled asparagus, and cous cous. It was delicious....I always beg her to open her own restaurant. And, her home was beautiful as always! We really miss all of our great friends and it is always great to go back and visit!

Saturday morning we were up bright and early for another Basketball Tournament for Maddie. Brant had to work, so I was at it alone. I got up and packed the drinks, sandwiches (Thanks Mom...she made them for me) and snacks. I ALWAYS have a bag full of snacks and all the girls know that! It was a full day of 3 games with a few hours in between. So....what did I do to kill time?? I went to some antique stores....but did not get a thing! I did find an antique fireplace mantle top with a beautiful beveled mirror, but it did not have a price on it. The owner was so busy with others....I did not have the patience to wait and ask. I may have to go back and check on that...it has been on my mind! Maddie's team won 2 games and lost 1, so they did great! She even had 12 points in one game...which is great for her! Maddie had one of her friends/teammates come with us to stay the night. So, we picked up a pizza and headed home....at 9pm. The girls ate, showered, painted nails, and hit the bed to watch a movie. We were back up this morning....skipped going to church again! We fed the girls and headed back to the tournament for 2 more games. Brant was home today....so it was nice to have him with me, plus it was or ANNIVERSARY! The girls lost the first game by 1 point!! They played the 2nd game and won, so they took 3rd place! YAY! More than anything....the girls had FUN! We all headed to Chili's to eat and the girls had milkshakes (before their meal) and Pizza! I guess that technically was Brant and I's anniversary dinner....Ha Ha!

Maddie going up for the shot!

The girls getting their trophy and medals.

We headed home and Maddie got cleaned up and headed down the street for her friend's slumber party! We have to get her up at 7:30am to go to Volleyball Camp in the morning. About 6 of the girls there are going, so she is not the only one. Can we say TIRED??? To be 12 again!

So...here I sit. A quiet house. (sighhhh)

Happy Anniversary......

17 years of many BLESSINGS and pure BLISS!!

My husband Brant is the most thoughtful, unselfish, honest, kind, giving, hard working, nuturing, FATHER and HUSBAND one dreams about but he is my true life best friend!

Anyone that knows me well knows that I had an disfunctional but interesting childhood. I was a product of divorce...a few times over. I have no regrets of that...it made me the person I am. It was God's plan for me. I always dreamed of what my ideal family would be when I was a little girl...it came true! I am truely BLESSED and thank the my LORD and SAVIOR for leading me to Brant and showing me my purpose. When I married Brant, everyone thought I was too young and I should wait. But again, it was in God's plan for me....I am truely blessed with a man of faith and 2 amazing children. I look forward to what life will bring us each day and what God's continued plan for us is!

I love you,

Not only for what you are,

But for what I am

When I am with you.

I love you,

Not only for what

You have made of yourself,

But for what

You are making of me.

I love you

For the part of me

That you bring out;

I love you

For putting your hand

Into my heaped-up heart

And passing over

All the foolish,

weak things

That you can't help

Dimly seeing there,

And for drawing out

Into the light

All the beautiful belongings

That no one else had looked

Quite far enough to find.

I love you because you

Are helping me to make

Of the lumber of my life

Not a tavern

But a temple;

Out of the works

Of my every day

Not a reproach

But a song.

I love you

bcause you have done

More than any creed

Could have done

To make me good,

And more than any fate

Could have done

To make me happy.

You have done it

Without a touch,

Without a word,

Without a sign.

You have done it

By being yourself.

Perhaps that is what

Being a friend means,

After all.

Show us Where You Live FRIDAY...and another busy day!

Kelly's Korner is hosting BATHROOMS this week! I have been DREADING this one! We have 3 full bathrooms....well really 4! I have not done anything to our bathrooms. No paint, no fixtures, no NOTHING!! We had so much to do when we bought this house...the bathrooms have been at the bottom of my list. I am not happy with sharing theses pics...but hey, I am blessed to have a bathroom for everyone in our house! (smile....)

This is our guest bath..that is in the hall off the living room and the guest room is across the hall. The only thing I did was paint the walls a neutral color and we laid hardwood floors throughout our entire home. People think I am crazy for having hardwoods in the bathrooms, but they are doing just fine! This is the first bathroom on my list to start decorating!!

Reid and Maddie have their own sink and dressing areas, but share a tub and toilet. Here is Maddie's wild and funky bathroom!

Here is Red's rustic "Longhorn" bathroom.

This is the room they share....gender neutral for now. Maddie wants a zebra shower curtain....Reid says NO!

This room and my kitchen are my least favorite spaces in the house....BEWARE. It's UGLY. Still has all of the original fixtures (Gold Hollywood lights....GAG!), plain mirrors, and gold on the glass shower trim. YUCK! I will get around to re-doing it eventually. But, you know....it is the room that really only I see....so it's at the bottom of the list, I guess. It is a LARGE room though....the pic doesn't show that much. Tons of drawers and cabinets not shown. I have alot of jewelry and girlie junk! I have to admit...this is my embarrassing space. I am a bit messy in this room. It is not Brant...it's ME! Yes....I admitted it! LOL! The picture over the tub is way too small but has some really cute sayings on it. It needs to go too! I want to paint a soft pretty color, get polished nickel vintage style fixtures (mirrors, lights, faucets, and knobs for the cabinets) and glaze the cabinets to antique them a bit. I want to make it pretty and feminine but still okay for Brant. However, Brant doesn't care...he showers and gets out! LOL!

All my junk and jewelry!!

More of my junk and I keep my hair dryer and flat iron in a pot...it keeps it out of the way! My princess sign the girls at work gave me....and my vitamins! Ha. If I do not keep them there, I forget to take them!

Okay...DONE! I feel better I came out and showed you my UGLIEST room in the house! (sighhhhh......)

Have a FUN FRIDAY!!!!

It is suppose to be 96 degrees today here in Texas plus high humidity...so it will fell like 100 degrees....YUCK!

I am heading this morning to buy my precious niece a gift for her b-day...she will be 2! Plus, run a few more errands. Then off across town to a BAYLOR UNIVERSITY football camp for Reid .....can you say HOT!!! But...hey, it's Brant's Alma mater! We have to go and it is a great camp and it's football! Then, we are heading to our old hometown while we are out that way to have dinner with our precious friends, the Nelsons. My best friend Gema is a FABULOUS cook, so I am looking forward to her dinner! YUM!
