Wow....have I missed bogging!!! I have so much to blog about and MISS my fellow bloggers so much!! So cheers to the Fall season.....and blogging! I.AM.BACK.!!!! Bringing a lot of new knowledge and experiences to share....be ready ladies!! I am an open book and ready to REALLY ooen up and share my personal trials over the last year, decorating ideas and ventures, kids,parenting, marriage and so much more!

Gracious....that I am!

Wow...it has been a while since I have posted. I took some time off from blogging due to being....well a busy mom of a senior in high school and a mom to a teenage girl...and did I mention along the way I inherited another teenage boy...and managed 2 dogs...and a husband! I wanted to enjoy every moment of Reid's senior year, and I could kick myself for not blogging it. But, life is short....and my time is precious. By the time I was home each day....the last thing I wanted was to get on the computer. It has been a whirlwind year...of many changes. Life changes. A year of pure and total GRACE!

I'll share bits of that later.....

It's been a super, busy week as usual here at the Rose Home! What's new, right?? I have so much to update from the past several months! Football season, Basketball Season, etc! I'm soooo behind!! I hope to start making some progress this next week!

My Revolving Family Room...

My Family Room...notice I say it is "Revolving" rather than "Evolving".

Basically, I have Decorator's A.D.D.! Ha!

I love the shabby, white look...however, I also have a yearning for bright color too! So, throughout the year/seasons, I change out my decor. I have 3 sets of drapes for the windows, a few different rugs, a variety of pillows and lamps/lampshades, and several different pieces of wall decor (art, mirrors, etc.). I just mix and match and change things up! My attic is half full of home decor and accessories.

My couches are from IKEA and they are the greatest things ever! I have 3 different sets of slip covers for them and I love to change them out throughout the year to create different looks. I bought these khacki colored ones back in August oso that I culd use warm tones for the Fall and Winter.

I had found this fabric on clearance last Summer and I planned to do something with it, just wasn't sure what?

Then after Christmas TJ Maxx put out all of their new Spring decor and rugs. And I LOVED this rug and all the colors in it. So...I bought it! However... I had no idea where I was going to put it.

I then decided I wanted to brighten up the Family Room and use it there.

So I found this red damask fabric and thought that pairing it with the blue fabric would look a little whimsical....like the rug. So there ya go! I cut and hung the drapes to see what they look like....I still need to sew and hem them. LOL! I took the mirror over my mantle down and replaced it with this vibrant painting at found at HomeGoods, and just changed accessories around.

To this....with just a few slipcover, rug, fabric, and re-arrange your accessories.

WARNING:

The room is NOT finished and it is a bit untidy....thanks to dogs and boys laying all over it.

Yes....dogs and teenage boys have taken over.

The rug was really my inspiration.

I bought this chair last year at HomeGoods....I love it. I paired it with
a leather ottoman from TJ Maxx and added these ruffled pillows that
I had found at Ross.

Today is another SNOW/ICE day for us....this is 3 days in a row! Unheard of in TEXAS!

As much as I would love to take this time to finish my Family Room....it is full of kids and dogs. No point. Maybe this weekend..... (sigh). Off to do more laundry.

It is more of an ICE DAY here in Texas! So, we are stuck inside! Rolling blackouts....irritating!

The Dallas/Fort Worth area is in panic mode due to the SUPER BOWL being here! I guess they didnt expect it to get like this in Texas! That's what we get for bringing the Packers and the Steelers here....they brought their freezing weather with them! Blah!

Around the house....and a SNOW DAY!

I wanted to share few things from around the house. I am constantly changing up my decor......I get bored!

I still need to show the changes I made in the Family Room, however the boys have taken it over and it is not presentable right now! Ha!

Anyways....

I have started adding some pops of blue to my kitchen.....

I moved these drapes from the Family Room into the Breakfast Room

Changed out the mirror above the mantle to some colorful art work.

On my wall of crosses, I added a canvas that I bought from a lady at a craft fair, she personalized it with our lst name. It has "John 3:16" painted around the cross.

I love these ruffled pillows...

And look at this little guy. Adorable huh? Brant picked him up on the side of a busy farm road before Christmas. We named him "Scout".

And today is a .....SNOW DAY!

Or should I say...ICE DAY! It is more like 3 inches of ice with a layer of snow on top!
Can you believe it was in the 70's here a few days ago.

That is TEXAS weather for you!

Goodbye Colorado...until next year!

Out last day in Colorado....

Was Gorgeous!!!

We ate at a local place that I want to try every year we go and we finally did!

The food was so fresh and yummy!!

After we hit the road we stopped off in Sante Fe...

And look what I found.....

A week without Starbucks was difficult....lol!

We walked around and enjoyed the shops and pretty Christmas lights!

My kids were embarrassed but I had to take a pic of these pretty pots they had all around the Plaza.

We went and had yet again another fabulous dinner!

Sante Fe is very artsy and Reid used my scarf and glasses to try and look the part! Ha....little goose!

We had yet another beautiful trio to Colorado.....

We love it there....It's definitely God's Country! Until next year.....

Colorado....Thanksgiving Day!

What a beautiful day it was......

It was so peaceful waking up to this outside our bedroom window each morning!

Brant took the kids skiing Thanksgiving morning. I stayed in....nursing a terrible tummy ache. I finally started reading Beth Moore's "So Long Insecurity". I have had it since summer!! Great so far....

When the kids got home from skiing, we got dressed and went to dinner out. When we got there and sat down they informed us that they ran out of Thanksgiving dinner! Lol! But they had a large menu with plenty of good food to choose from.

Colorado.... Day 5

This morning we picked Reid's girlfriend of 2 years, Meagan,up at the airport in Durango. We adore her! She had to fly in late due to basketball. She had 3 games since Friday. And her coach was very insistent that she not miss!! Reid is playing basketball too....he missed one game yesterday! Lol!! Sorry, but I told the coach when he talked Reid into playing he would be out the week of Thanksgiving break. Anyways....after we picked Meagan up we hit the slopes! It was super cold, snowy and windy!

Looks miserable, huh??

Well it was not as bad as it seemed and definitely less crowded!

Reid switched to skiing rather than snowboarding since Meagan doesn't snowboard.

And my Maddie girl did her thing!!

And then following her Daddy...ready to go!

The wind and snow never stopped up there!

But the weather is supposed to be clear and sunny the rest if the week! Yay!

Did you know that Pagosa Springs has the largest hot springs in the world?? Well... They do! And I plan on soaking in them! Ahhhh....

Colorado Day 3....well really 4

Well, day 4 was spent skiing....actually snowboarding all day! It was cold, but finally sunny!

We all 4 snowboarded together and it was a blast!!

My last 3 runs....I did not fall once!! Really, seriously, for real! Lol!

Here is my super awesome little snowboarding girl....

And my husband who seems to feel 21 again....lol!

And I have to show you Maddie's snowboard. She got new zebra (of coarse!) bindings for her snowboard this past year and after putting them on, she decided they did not "match" her snowboard very well....so taa-daa!

She used colored and zebra duct tape and designed her own! A designer in training! I adore my little creative bug! She goof so many compliments and even some super cool snowboard dudes said they were gonna have to copy that idea!

It was a fun packed day....and we were tired (and sore....shhh) and just came back and stayed in by the fire for some Glee and Toy Story 3.

Well, today is suppose to be super cold!! Down to 1 degree tonight! Whoa! And more snow!! This is the coldest it's been in the years we have bend coming here! But, tomorrow and thd rest of thd week will bd nice and sunny....perfect ski weather!

Colorado...Day 2

Well, we headed up to the slopes this morning and when we got up there they told us they were closed for the day. The wind and temps have been extreme compared to normal and we assumed that was the reason. However, the parking attendant told us that it was due to an "incident" that happened earlier in the morning. When we asked what?? He explained he wasn't sure. Come to find out the director of Ski Patrol was killed by an avalanche while doing their routine blast on the mountain. Tragic!!!! While trying to protect others, he perished. Prayers for his family!!!

So, we came back to our house and changed and went to lunch at this great restaurant "Nello's Bistro & Expresso Bar". It was amazing!!

We then shopped a bit in downtown Pagosa Springs and found this lovely furniture and home store.

And the store owner had the most beautiful and massively large Malamute dog!! His name was Tonka....and I am so mad I didn't take a picture of him!! I was too busy petting and admiring him!

Later in the evening we headed back to dinner at...."Nello's" again! We love that place!!

We had steak calamari and esgargot.....

and Oysters Rockefeller. It was all so GOOD!!!

My picky eater Reid even tried esgargot!!!

Maddie tried and liked everything....except the Oysters! Ha ha!

And here they are both in their iPhones enjoying the free WiFi.....the service here in Pagosa is not great for AT&T. So when they get service....this is what this look like! Ha!! Glued to their phones!!

Before we left, we went to the lovely bar they have to order a glass of wine and we were talking to the bartender, whose wife actually owns the restaurant. He works Monday and Tuesday nights to give her a night off. Sweet!! We learned that he actually teaches ski lessons at the ski resort and was there this morning when the ski patrol director was killed. He informed us that his wife was a middle school teacher her in town and they had 2 small boys. So sad!!! The resort will have a fund for the family to donate to tomorrow! May God bless them! It was such a delight to visit with him and he told us so much about this wonderful community that we come to visit every Thanksgiving!! He is one of the many that visited here for years and then decided to move here and make this his home! It is so beautiful here.....a wonderful community of people! Maybe that will be us one day....we love it here!!

Well, the ski resort will be open again tomorrow....so we plan on hitting the slopes early tomorrow. I will have Day 3 updates tomorrow evening!

It's that time again....Colorado!

This is our 3rd year to spend Thanksgiving week in Colorado! It was a winter wonderland when we woke up our first morning here today!

We hit the slopes this morning....and guess what?? My kids and hubbie talked me into snowboarding!! I have been skiing since I was a kid, but snowboarding is completely different! Needless to say I had a blast learning, even though I spent a lot of time on my booty! Lol! I am back at it tomorrow! I'm determined! All I know is I better get the "Cool Mom Award" for this!

Happy Saturday!!! We are currently in Wichita Falls at Midwestern State for Reid to visit with the football coaches and we are going to the game tonight! I am super excited for him!! He has worked so hard and is so passionate....and he has been so down and frustrated with his high school team. He needs this to bring his spirits up and to keep his focus on what lies ahead. I will update with more pics later!

Some new additions to the house that make me smile.....

I did a "Summer" look for my antique entry chest....I got this table runner at Target on clearance a few years ago and forgot I had it! I mixed it with my black and white decor and it adds a POP of color!

I found these pretty nesting bowls at Home Goods a few weeks ago and put some pretty shells that Reid collected on our last beach trip.

I found the set of lanterns at Ross an the white ceramic pineapples at TJ Maxx...

I am loving my new Paula Deen mixing bowls and these adorable dish towels and oven mitt from Target.

Another find.....this Paula Deen recipe box! I found it in the dollar section at Michael's. It was only $2.00!

It came with these cute dividers and the recipe cards were only $1.00 for the pack.

Love it...too cute! And would make a great gift! I think I am going to go back and pick up a few more!

HELP!!!

This wall needs an update. It has been this way since my past decor, which was the old world style...red, golds, bronze, lots of iron, etc. Now I am more into the bright, light and airy feel. So, I want to relocate my crosses to another room. Not sure where yet??

I bought this old window pane at an antique store earlier this Spring...and want to do something with it. Maybe on this wall??? What do you think??

The dreadful garage....and some fab finds!

I am actually posting this post from my iPhone4......let's see how this goes!

Yesterday I spent the day cleaning and organizing.....the dreadful garage!! It was out of control!! After coming and going so much this summer for all of the kids activities all of their equipment, shoes, bags, and random junk had accumulated and taken over! We have a 3 car garage....and we could not park one car in the garage! Pretty sad huh? It became a dumping ground this summer! Okay...I admit...I had some old junk that I had put out there to get rid of that took up a third of the space! But we cleaned organized and got rid of alot if stuff!

And.......ta-da! Here it is now (I forgot to take a before pic....probably out of pure embarrassment!)

So...I loaded up all the junk in the Suburban and hauled it down to Goodwill! After they unloaded my stuff at Goodwill, I decided to go in... Just to see what they had.

I found this ottoman for $5!! It is in great condition beside the denim being worn on top, so I on recovering it!

I also found this side table. It is sturdy and well made and I love the style of it, so this cute little thing is getting redone and painted! Not sure where I want to put it yet??

Now to find the time to take on another few projects!!

Why I have not blogged in FOREVER?????

Well....here is just a smidgen of the activities we have had this summer!

For those of you that do not live in Texas.......let me remind you that FOOTBALL defines Texas! We are a little over-the-top with it here! And we LOVE it!

Reid has traveled all over the BIG state of TEXAS to attend Senior Football Camps!

We started out in Austin at.......UT!

Then onto Houston to Rice University!

Then onto Texas State!

and Kyle Field at Texas A&M!

Then we had some downtime at home for the 4th of July!

We went to church and then had friends and family over for the day! We cooked out and the kids did Fireworks that we had bought and we also were able to watch the awesome Fireworks Show that our town puts on.......and from our backyard!

Between softball practice, summer athletic conditioning classes 3 days a week for both kids, Reid's football, multiple camps for both kids, a house full of teenage boys, and of coarse several full weekends of tournaments....this is one of the few summers we have not taken a trip! The summer has slipped away! Don't get me wrong....we have had down time and have gone swimming, movies, etc. But, I have not had any time to get any of my projects done around the house....BUMMER! I have enjoyed spending my days running my kids around and watching them play the sports they love. This is my last summer of doing this with Reid! This time next year he will be getting ready for college (frown). I am cherishing every last moment of this.....it goes by so fast!

Well, I have one more week of summer left before I go back to school. So, I am organizing, cleaning, and maybe going to get a few projects done this week (fingers crossed) before the upcoming school year (and madness) begins! We have NOTHING going on this weekend.....YAY!!

Well....we spent another weekend across the universe at a softball tournament. It was such a beautiful weekend....but soooo WINDY! I was caked up with sand...YUCK!

Maddie played hard....as did her team.

We got home around 5pm Sunday....and spent time here.

Maddie had her formal dance to attend Friday night at her middle school.

We had gone dress shopping a few weeks ago with all her friends. Talk about picky?? Geesh....all of us Moms were wondering what Prom will be like years down the road. This is only 7th grade! Speaking from experience with having a boy......boys are a piece of cake when it comes to this stuff compared to girls.

Here is my girl in her "Oh-So-Maddie" dress!

She had to have this dress...however is strapless (against dress code) and it was dressy but a little plain. We added the hot pink sash with tulle and found a cute tulle and rhinestone flower pin at an accessory store and we had to sew some straps on it.

And....ta-dah...we turned it into this Sassy little thing!
She is just too cute...in my motherly opinion!

Spring Sports Banquet

Last night was the high school Spring Athletic Banquet. Reid gave up basketball this year to focus on off season football, but he always runs track in the Spring. He has lettered since his freshman year in track. This is the first banquet I have missed (frown). I had to stay home with Maddie who had not been home all weekend due to softball and she had homework and a project to work on. So, Brant and Reid went to the banquet alone. Of coarse, Reid's girlfriend Meagan was there also. Meagan is the Head Varsity Cheerleader but is also an awesome basketball player. She is a sweet, tiny little thing but a little spit-fire on the court. They gave 2 awards for Track. High Point leader in Running and Field events. Reid got the High Point for Running Events! Meaning he scored the most points in running. And, Meagan got the Defensive MVP Award for Varsity Basketball.

You know what is funny?? Reid is ranked 19th and Meagan is ranked 20th in their class of 300. They are super competitive with one another....and are best friends.

See this pretty little thing.......

I had been searching high and low. Antique stores, craigslist, garage sales, etc. and had no luck. Then one day I found an old buffet in an antique store in Glen Rose for $200 that was perfect but it had a "SOLD" sign on it. Darn it! Then the owner of the store told me that next store in his storage building he had another one that he had not put out yet. He said it was not in as good of condition. Who cares....I was gonna paint it! And SCORE...there she was, this pretty little thing! I talked him down to $50.

So...I painted it.

And.... LOVE it!

It is the perfect addition to our family room!

Another project I completed was this broken mirror that Maddie and I painted into a chalkboard. I wrote my "word for 2010" on it. GRACE. and some meaningful words and scripture.

See these pretty ladies.....well, they have a new album!

I am a HUGE Dixie Chicks fan...since their beginning. They are such talented musicians and songwriters, and sisters Marty & Emily just came out with a new album of their own. I had read about it last week, and when I walked into Starbucks Saturday morning...there it was! I love this song..."The Coast". All of the song on the album are so soothing and pretty. Highly recommended!

Well...I have not blogged much, like I had PROMISED to! We had such a BUSY week....much of it was not even photographed. I was so busy running crazy, I forgot my good camera alot this week. I have found that rather than bringing my nice camera....I have resorted to keeping my small, pocket camera in my purse. At least I always have it....rather than forgetting my "I must have this expensive camera! I will take it everywhere!" camera! LOL! So these pictures are courtesy my little Sony Cyber Shot rather than my expensive Canon that I have also invested in a multitude of lenses and an adorable camera strap from Etsy! I hope the hubbie is not reading this! Do any of you have this problem??

I have to laugh and document this also. Notice how Reid's top button is unbuttoned and he had to do the "cool loose tie" look. Well, he has grown....and none of his dress shirts will button around his neck now! All of his nice dress shirts I bought him last year are all too little to wear a tie with now. My growing boy! He is 6'2" and has not grown in height in a year or so....but apparently his neck has! I guess all that weight lifting in off season this winter paid off...Ha Ha!

Well, Maddie had 8th grade cheer tryouts last week. Here we go again...can you say nerves?? Last year they only chose 6 and she made it. This year they were choosing 12...YAY! But, I was still just nervous! Of coarse, she was not the least bit nervous!

We spent the weekend in Southlake for a softball tournament! If you do not live in Texas...select softball is a serious sport here for girls. It is keeping us so busy! We had to leave at 6:30 am on Saturday morning and did not get home until 8pm Sunday evening. So, needless to say I spent Mother's Day at the ball fields and it decided to turn cool and rainy after having a week of gorgeous weather! YUCK! What was my Mother's Day lunch...concession stand nachos. YAY me! I would not have it any other way though....I cherish all of the time I spend watching my kids do what they love. The kids gave me new Brighton charms for my bracelet, and white roses. It was a long, tiring weekend but I enjoyed it. My mother in law came out on Saturday to watch Maddie and my parents both came on Sunday. So, we did get to see our Mom's too! Reid even went and worked the scoreboard! Ha! I did not manage to get any photos of me and the kids! Darn it!

PROM 2010

Well, this was a whirlwind weekend....Reid had his first Prom. It was our high school's Junior/Senior Prom and it was held at the Ballpark at Arlington (where our Texas Rangers play) at the Diamond Club. It is a ballroom that overlooks the ball field. Reid took his girlfriend of a year and a half, Meagan. Of coarse! Over the past few months all of the Moms have been planning things such as before Prom pictures, limo ride, and a after Prom party. We dubbed ourselves the "Prom Moms". ha ha! It went wonderfully and was a special night for all of us! What a precious memory!

After Prom they all came back to the house around 12:30am and all of us Moms had snacks and goodies for them. They all changed and hung out by the outdoor fireplace and went swimming in the pool and hot tub. We even had other kids show up.....that wanted a safe, alcohol free place to go. Unfortunately Prom night is a big party night here in Texas...as most places, I am sure. It was so nice to see kids that just wanted to have pure and innocent fun. The boys were all taken home by 4:00am....yes, I said 4. Ha. And the girls all stayed the night at the Bruce's home. This morning....at 11:00am, the Bruce's invited the boys back over to have breakfast with the girls. It was such a great weekend....and I am so blessed that Reid has such a wonderful group of friends who all have high morals and character. All of the Moms enjoy each other and we are all so involved in planning things for them. We are already planning next year.....and how we are going to top this year!

On a side note.....Maddie is playing select softball and unfortunately I could not be there to watch her play, but Daddy was of coarse! She had a great weekend of ball.....but she was sad to miss seeing all the girls and their pretty hair and dresses. I was sad that Daddy had to miss the Prom excitement also....but there are times where we have to split duties between the kids.....WELCOME to parenthood,right!

Where have I been??

I feel terrible....I have lost touch with blogging this Spring! I have had so many texts, emails, Facebook messages, etc. asking "Where have you been??", "Is everything okay?", "Why haven't you blogged?"....well all is perfectly fine. It is just one.crazy.busy.life! And, I LOVE every moment of it! We have been soooo busy with work and school (TAKS, school budget, banquets, sports, sports, and more sports). Now that the weather is so pretty, we have been doing house projects when we are home. So...blogging has been towards the bottom of my priority list. Sorry! I just have not had time to even get on the computer lately. I am purely relying on my Blackberry these days to communicate. But....things are slowing down at work and home (a bit), so I am back! PROMISE!

For family and friends wondering where new pics are....here are a few things we had been busy with:

Maddie started Track this year in 7th grade and is polevaulting! She did AWESOME...jumped higher than 8th graders even. She LOVES it!

And....PROM is tonight!!! Reid and all of his friends (8 couples) are all taking a HUMMER limo to Prom. All of the "Prom Moms" are meeting at 4pm with the kids to take photos. After we send them off we are putting an After Prom party together for them! They are all great kids and we are so blessed that they even want us to throw them a party! Will post pictures tomorrow!

I don't know about you, but Maddie and I LOVE musicals and Broadway shows, and we LOVE GLEE!! After a LONG break...it is back tonight! YAY!
I think next week is the Madinna episode!! Of coarse, Maddie really does not understand that Madonna was a HUGE artist of my generation. I LOVED her music back in the day (not her lifestyle...but her music was amazing!). When I tried to explain to her what Madonna was like...I compared her to what Lady GaGa is today. Ha Ha! And guess what??? GLEE is having a Lady GaGa episode too!

Here in Texas, we know Spring has officially arrived when the Bluebonnets are in bloom.....

And we have been busy here at the Rose house! The kids activities are in full swing and I have been one.BUSY.mom! I have not blogged in weeks! I have so many pictures to upload and share....that is when I can find the time! Soon...very soon though.

I have been absent for a week or so......it has been so busy at our house!
However.....it is SPRING BREAK here....and for the first time in many years, we are staying home! We always go on a trip, but this year we have decided to stay home and actually relax and get some much needed things done around the house on our time off! No practices, games, lessons, or anything for the kids......YAY....a REAL break! I have had my list ready for weeks and I am ready to get started on it....along with doing some FUN things with my kiddos too!
I can actually BLOG again too....and plan on spending this evening watching all of the DVR'd shows that I have missed this week, and catching up on all of my favorite blogs...there are 100's!!
For now....today....I am going to get outside and enjoy this GLORIOUS, BEAUTIFUL Sunday!

This will be me...come March 13th!

I do not know about ya'll....but I have been in a rut lately when it comes to decorating and doing new projects! We have had such a COLD winter here in Texas....and it has just been too cold to go outside or in the garage to do any new projects! I am so ready for Spring and especially Spring Break in a few weeks. Last Spring Break we spent 10 glorious days in New York and New York City! I wish we were going again...however we are not going anywhere this Spring Break, so that we can enjoy our time off and get some much needed projects and "to do list" things accomplished. I am starting to make my list now.

1. Clean out and organize all of my "junk" drawers and cabinets that hold all of my craft supplies, etc. It is BAD!!
2. SEW!! I have had the fabric since early fall for a curtain for Maddie's bathroom and a few other projects.
3. Touch up paint around the house.
4. Clean out closets and get rid of clothing, shoes, accessories that we do not wear or need anymore.
5. If it is warm enough.....clean out our landscape beds and get ready to start planning our Spring planting. I also want to plant a veggie garden this Spring!
7. Clean off back porch and furniture....we have neglected it because we have not used it all winter. It has been windy and down right cold. So, it is covered in dust and dirt!
8. The dreadful GARAGE!!! Ugh! Time to clean out and organize! We have had to shove stuff in places it does not belong in order to park all 3 cars in it this winter.
9. Maybe find some time to go "junkin" and find some pretty old things. I am looking for an antique table to put behind my sofa and a china cabinet/hutch for my dining room that I can paint white.
10. Make some pretty things for the house and upcoming birthdays of friends and family.

Do you think I can get all of this done in 9 days???

Well, we have a busy weekend ahead in our family. Reid has a Track meet all day in Stephenville, so we will be up at dawn to go cheer him on in the cold and wind for 8 hours! And then Daddy Rose has to leave and head to Arlington with Maddie for the first game of her Basketball Tournament. I will have to miss her game to stay and watch Reid, but she has 2 more games Sunday afternoon. It will be a rush to get there after church. I REFUSE to miss church. This is one of those weekends where we have to split our duties. They keep us so busy and we put so many miles on our cars...but I would not trade it for anything and I cherish every minute of watching my sweet little Roses' do what they love.

Good Morning....welcome to a new, but temporary look. I am finally going to pay someone to design my very own blog design...that hopefully reflects ME!

I know some of you enjoy my blog seeing what our family is up to, and some that are more for the home decor inspirations. I post all of my family stuff as a personal journal and scrapbook, and along with that my passions....which is home decor and creating personal things. I have dreamed of having my own business one day, and have recently prayed about it and discussed it more seriously with my hubbie, who just happens to be the most supportive man ever! I am always sewing, painting, adorning, and restoring pretty things. I never really take the time to post much of it...mainly due to time and making my children more the subjects of my blog. So, I am thinking of changing the name and look of my blog...just still trying to decide as to what that will be?? This year I have had a new perspective on how I want my life to be.....God, My Family, making every day matter, following my dreams and passions, and having grace in all that I am and all that I do. So...please bear with me as some of these little "blog changes" are happening.

I have been so happy to meet so many LOVELY women through blogging!

I have not had much time to make comments and visit very many blogs lately. But will try to make some time this weekend to catch up and visit the blogs of so many! I am so looking forward to it!
My blog started out as a "family blog" to keep our loved ones caught up on what was going on with our family and our super busy life. But, it has evolved into so much more. I am considering starting up a 2nd blog based on Home Decor and Home improvements projects, crafts, etc. I have so much to share...that I do not share on this blog. What do ya'll think??

Wow...What a busy week for me! I am so sorry that I have not updated all week!

After enjoying a long weekend after our Snow Day on Friday and having a day off, we celebrated Valentine's Day with my in laws on Saturday night at Del Frisco's Steak House in downtown Fort Worth! The BEST food ever! It was super crowded....but luvkily we had reservations. We had great food...or should I say a feast! And a wonderful visit with my in laws.

I do not get opportunities to get family pics often...so here are a few of us before leaving for dinner.

On Friday Night, Maddie and I dragged Daddy out to go see Valentine's Day with us at the theater. It was really cute! I was a little weary to take Maddie, but it was PG-13 and I looked up the content and it seemed okay. There were a few scenes that we discussed later, but she is 13 now and could handle it. The one thing I did like about it, is that there was hardly any bad language....which is rare these days! Jennifer Garner is adorable as usual....and had some of the greatest scenes in the movie! Even Brant admitted it was pretty good : )

We followed the movie up with Starbucks...and they even were in the Valentine's Day spirit with these heart cups. Cute!!
On Sunday, we stayed home and enjoyed our day. My parents came over and brought the kids some Valentine's Day goodies. My Mom made homemade cupcakes and brought the traditional conversation hearts.

I hope you all had a LOVELY weekend with the ones you love!

Texas Blizzard!

Yeah...right, those of you that live North are thinkin'!
But in Texas...this s a Blizzard!
This is the 3rd good snow we have in the past 6 weeks. That NEVER happens here!
We had about 9-11 inches here....RECORD BREAKING!

School was let out early today...and so far we get to go in a bit late tomorrow.
The kids are hoping we get a day off. Wishful thinking.....

I am one of the few Texans that is loving this cold, white winter!
I adore the cold and snow!
We have have plenty of hot, humid, miserable months to melt....
so I enjoy the few months of cold!

Last Thursday was Reid's Football Banquet. It was a crazy, busy day for me for I was on the decorating committee...The "MOM SQUAD" is what we call ourselves. It always seems to be the same handful of us that do everything! Anyways....I went from jeans, a hoodie, and UGGS along with wet, frizzy hair from all the torrential rain that day....and ran home and changed in 30 minutes to go back to the banquet. Whew....and it was still pouring rain. And NEVER stopped!

Reid and I before the banquetFor the tables (sorry for the bad pic), we had glittered "BELIEVE" (our motto this year) signs as the centerpiece and the placemats were all different photo collages. They turned out GREAT! We also had custom printed napkins, programs, and there were take home custom pens and beaded necklaces which were scattered on the tables.

This is Jeremiah...he is an honorary team member. If you have read my blog before, he is such a inspiration to the team. He has CP and obviously can not physically play...but lives and breathes the game of football. He got a award tonight and was so excited....he received a standing ovation. PRICELESS!!
The local newspaper did an article on Jeremiah and when asked who his favorite football player was...he said Reid Rose. Reid is so good with him, and Jeremiah and him have a special bond. I am so thankful to have such a thoughtful, caring son!
It was a great evening. We are so blessed to have such a great coach in Coach Bird and his entire coaching staff. Even though our season did not go as well as expected, I think they all walked away having pride. He has taught them that above everything, it is not about winning and numbers, but belief and pride in yourself and in your team. Reid decided to not play basketball this year (frown) and focus on off season and working hard for next season. He is so passionate and committed! I am so ready to see what next year brings our team! I am already ready for Football!! Reid just started Track and before you know it Spring Football will be here!

Did I mention Reid is ranked 21 in his class and out of those 21, he is one of the few in all AP classes. He could be ranked higher but has chosen to take the challenging classes and I know it will prepare him better for college. He is still keeping a 4.0 GPA and that is with taking AP Calculus this year. He is the only Junior taking it. He hates it....Math is usually easy for him, but it has really challenged him this year. He has been a bit frustrated! But, has a great teacher that has old him he will appreciate it when he gets to college. He took his SAT's last weekend, so we are anxiously awaiting his scores. FINGERS CROSSED! I can't believe he will be a senior next year...I am so not ready for this!

WHITE Wednesday and Lady Antebellum

I have been waiting for months for the new Lady Antebellum CD to come out and it was released yesterday! I went to the store first thing this morning and bought it. I literally ran to my car (okay....it was cold) but I was super excited. I got in and ripped the plastic off and peeled that darn sticker trim off....it took what felt like 10 minutes!
And when I opened my CD....this was inside.
(sigh...)

LOVE this WHITE photo.....perfect this week for WHITE Wednesday!
Their music is so good....even if you do not like country music, you will LOVE them! I bought their debut CD last year and spent all summer listening to it. This 2nd one is just as great!
I have listened to it all day! You can get it for $8.98 at Target for this week! DEAL!

So to be a super model and to be on one of my FAVORITE shows Project Runway...but she bombed on this outfit by Roberto Cavalli.
Mariah....Mariah....Mariah....she just never gets it quite right for me!
Sorry....just a little too much cleavage for the Globes. I love the black and the shape of the dress, the hair and make up, and jewels....but the cleavage is just spillin'! She is wearing a very fitted dress by Herve Leger by Max Azria.
Kate Hudson is always one of my favs. But....not so much this year. She is GORGEOUS....but the dress is wearing her, instead of her wearing the dress. Just not feeling ths on her. She is wearing a Marchesa strapless silk crepe gown, Casadei’s Signature 3504 triple platform pump, and a bracelet by Stephen Russell Contemporary Collection.
Jennifer Garner is not pulling it off for me in this Atelier Versace spiral nude/grey gown, Casadei shoes, Judith Leiber clutch and Bulgari jewels. Sorry Jenn... usually am a fashion fan of yours.

I was so excited for Sandra Bullock for winning for Blindeside! And Robert Downey Jr! He was sooo good in Sherlock Holmes...and doesn't he look great??
I was disappointed to see Inglorious Bastards not win anything! I can not believe that...and Brad Pitt was not even nominated?? This was a movie I thought I would hate, but gave in and watched it with my man....and LOVED it!
The Hangover won...ha ha...love that...and Bradley Cooper!
They showed the previews for Valentine's Day on several commercial breaks.....can't wait to see it! A great ensemble cast...... and Brad Cooper! Ha!

I did some great shopping this weekend! Picked up several new pairs of shoes and lost count of how many dresses I bought, but can I just say I LOVE end of season clearance sales! I will try and share all my finds later this week : )

Soo...it's the NEW YEAR!
Okay...so can I please have this pantry??
I LOVE the look of it PERIOD!
But...I love how organized and neat it looks!
So...everyone tells me "You are so organized!"....well, I am not! I just FAKE it pretty well.
For real.....I am really organized with some things....and not so much with others.
I need to get better organized at home (cabinet's, closets, drawers, etc.), but also within myself (time management, getting more sleep, etc.). I guess they go hand in hand right?? I am really going to try and work on this......starting this week. Hmmm.....

Okay....well, I know this is the most RANDOM post.
But, we actually had a weekend where we did not do much of anything. Niiiiceeeee! Did I do any projects aroung the house??No.....none....zero.....nothing. Brant worked Saturday, and Reid spent the day with Meagan (the girlfriend) and her family. So...Maddie and I met my parents and went to see Sherlock Holmes. It was soooo good! Robert Downey Jr. is wonderful in it! Afterwards, we had a late lunch and then Maddie and I came home and watched movies. Just us girls!
On Sunday, Brant spent the afternoon at home with the kids and I hd some "Mommy Time" and went shopping! I found some grat deals.....will share on tomorrow's post, hopefully.

It was been sooo cold everywhere last week....and it was here in Texas too! It got down in the teens....which is rare here. I LOVE the cold! People here think I am NUTS! It is suppose to warm up this week though.

I chose to not really have a New Year's Resolution...but mine is more a Goal. A word for the year that defines me and will hopefully define my year. I posted the following post a few days ago....here it is again.

It is my word for 2010.
My theme....my goal.....my being.
The exercise of love, kindness, mercy, favor; disposition to benefit or serve another; favor bestowed or privilege conferred

I want to have grace in my words, in my smile, in my heart, in my soul. When I walk, when I talk, when I create and when I look into the eyes of others. I want people to see and feel my grace. And more than anything....feeling grace.....the "unmerited favor" of God. That is divine grace.
I want people to see my "grace" and ask me about it. I have alot to say.....and do.

God gives grace to those that give grace (Matt 6:4).

I have to admit a few things that I am REALLY trying hard to do:
1. To not text while driving! (yes, I admit it)
2. To cut back on Starbucks ( so far, so good)
3. To make more time for my husband
4. Take 30 minutes each day for a quiet moment with God.
5. To slow down....I love my social life and my kids activities, but want to spend more time together in "our" own home. I REALLY enjoyed it over the 2 week break.

As many of you may or may not know this is COLT MCCOY....#12....our QB....one of the best and most succcessful QB's in college football...Colt McCoy went down injured early in the 2nd series in his final college football game....The National Championship Game! He was also the front runner for the Heisman this year, but had a "not-so-good" game against Nebraska and lost it to Mark Ingram. Bummer #1 for him. He actually DESERVED it hands down last year. Now I LOVE Colt McCoy....yes, he wins us football games, but more than anything because he is a true CHRISTIAN! He stands up for God! After having to sit on the sidelines injured and watching his team lose, he was interviewed after the game. When asked about it...he answered
"I have worked my entire life to be put on this stage and play this game. I have worked so hard to get here, But....I will never question GOD and I will never ask why. My faith is stronger than that. I know every thing happens for a reason and I will always be standing on the rock."

That is why I LOVE Colt McCoy!! What a role model for all the kids that look up to him. God is using him....and Colt knows that! He knows his purpose.

They will play in the Rose Bowl Tonight to win the National Championship!!
Yes...they will WIN! We are TEXAS!!

We BELIEVE in "our" Heisman boy....McCoy! And our DEFENSE will shut down Ingram and Alabama!
We are flying our UT banner proud this week at the Rose home!
And it just so happened to be collge T-shirt day at school today.....and guess what I wore?

TEXAS FIGHT! TEXAS FIGHT! YEA, TEXAS FIGHT!
YEA, ORANGE! YEA, WHITE! YEA, TEXAS...FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT!!

However....we do wish a good game for Alabama's QB Greg McElroy. We have to root for our fellow Texas kids. He played for Southlake Carroll and when Reid was a QB he took a fast twitch coarse with McElroy and a few other kids. It is great to see good kids succeed....and to be playing at this level and on this stage!

I am thinking our TEXAS defense will shut him down though...LOL!

And Tray Allen....he is an offensive lineman for Texas. We knew Tray from when he played high school ball. GREAT kid....he was one of the top recruited players in the nation about 4 years ago.
